So what does it really mean when you hear “Tiktok made me buy it”?

Pretty much it means your favorite Tiktoker, Beauty Creator, or even a Celebrity you love made a short form video review on a new beauty product and created FOMO (fear of missing out) so you immediately buy the product. We also see ads on Tiktok and the more we are shown a product we are likely to just buy the product and ask questions later.

How Tiktok Influenced My Wallet?

As a beauty creator myself, I am not immune to the virality of beauty products on Tiktok. Take a look at the picture above and you will see a handful of viral products “Tiktok made me buy.” I was definitely influenced to buy these products and try them especially when the creators provided me knowledge on what the product does and how to use it. I wish I could say I have used all the products in the picture, but I haven’t. I plan to use the products I already have to create new content and will only have new beauty products when I receive them from the brand.

How to make small changes to your shopping habits?

1. Take inventory of everything you have to give you a better idea of what you have
2. Throw out anything expired and/or you don’t use regularly
3. Shop your own stash to replace expired products. You will be amazed at what you find!
4. If you want to try a new product, go to Sephora and get a sample or visit Ulta to try it out at the store.
5. Make sure to only buy products when there is a sale and hey, if you can use a coupon or a promo code on top of the sale even better.

What to consider before buying a product?

• Read or Watch Reviews – Try to find someone who had the same skin type and/or complexion. This will make it easy for you to shop and decide if its worth the splurge.
• Price – Try to see if you could buy it at a smaller size, that will help the cost go down by almost half. You can also search for dupes that are affordable and work the same or better.
• Promotions – Check out the brands website for a promotions, when signing up to their mailing list. See if they are having a specific promotion on their socials. You can also check with your favorite creators like me and ask to see if we have a code. I know I love helping others save some coin.
